Ingredients:
1 lb fresh, local asparagus
~ 4 slices of bacon (or really as much as you’d like)
2 Tbsp melted butter
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp brown sugar
1/4 tsp pepper
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Snap the ends of each asparagus off. When you bend the stalk, it will naturally break at the appropriate spot.
Divide the asparagus into bundles of 3-4 (or more or less depending on your preferred asparagus-to-bacon ratio), and wrap one slice of bacon around each bundle.
In a bowl, mix together the butter, garlic powder, sugar, and pepper.
Place the asparagus bundles on a baking sheet and drizzle the butter mixture evenly over the top.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy.
Bonus! If your asparagus is really fresh, those ends that you snapped off are still edible and tasty. I like to fry them in butter in a cast-iron skillet over medium heat, with a little bit of garlic powder and a lot bit of maple sugar sprinkled on top.
